On November 13, 2023, Xtra Mile Running was presented with the Featured Business of the Month Award by the Schaumburg Business Development Commission (SBDC). We are touched and grateful that the commission chose our store!
About the SBDC: The 30-member commission meets on a monthly basis to discuss economic development issues and get updates on issues affecting the business community. The Schaumburg Business Development Commission features a business each month as part of the business retention program to educate the community about the business and to recognize the contribution the business has made to Schaumburg. Owner Receives Top Outstanding Young Person Award
Chris Schiel Recognized for his Work in the Community
The Illinois Jaycees selected Christopher Schiel, Schaumburg resident and owner of Xtra Mile Running, as an honoree of its 2020 Outstanding Young Persons of Illinois awards program.
The program annually recognizes young people throughout Illinois who excel in their chosen fields and show a great commitment to their respective communities. Schiel was recognized in the category of Personal Improvement and/or Accomplishment for his work with the store.
"Since the day we opened our doors in 2018, Xtra Mile's vision has been to create a closely-knit community here in Schaumburg," said Schiel. "The fact that I was nominated and have received this award is a wonderful way to recognize all those who have contributed to nurturing this phenomenal community. This award truly belongs to them."
